It's really easy. It can be your home, a school, a place of worship, or business. All that's needed is food, water, cover, and an area to raise young. So plant trees and shrubs, provide water such as a bird bath and plant pollinator and butterfly host plants.

School Certification
Cabarrus County currently has over 15 schools certified in the system. Our goal is to have all Cabarrus County schools certified. It is free to certify school yards and CWA will provide a sign while quantities last.
Join schools across the country who have been recognized for creating havens for wildlife that provide the essential elements for healthy and sustainable wildlife habitats. These schools have earned the distinction of being part of National Wildlife Federation's Certified Wildlife Habitat® program.

Homes, Churches and Businesses
Certify these properties for a minimum of $20 donation to help support the National Wildlife Federation's programs to inspire others to make a difference in addressing the issues leading to declining habitat for wildlife nationwide. Put out a sign or flag available from NCWF to encourage others to ask questions and participate!
We currently have over 400 homes, businesses and churches certified in the greater Concord area. This goes a long way to giving bees, butterflies and birds a place to live and thrive. To learn what native plants, shrubs and trees work best in our area check out this website: www.nwf.org/NativePlantFinder/. Here you can search by zip code to find the best plants to sustain wildlife.
